Q&A

How should I get to the events?

To get to the welcome party, you can:

  • Drive - You can park in the museum lot for free - just mention that you are part of our event when you enter the parking lot. The parking lot sometimes fills up, but there's plenty of street parking.

  • Use Uber/Lyft - It is pretty reliable and reasonably priced in St. Louis.

  • Use public transportation - The City Museum is about 1 mile from the Civic Center Metrolink (light rail) station and close by to the downtown bus stations. Buses run somewhat infrequently so you would need to plan ahead.

Once you're inside the museum, head upstairs to the Vault Room.

To get to the wedding ceremony and reception, you can:

  • Use our shuttle:

    • The shuttles will pick up guests from in front of the movie theater marquee at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel (here) and drop them off at the Jewel Box. Note that the pickup spot is also less than a 5 minute walk from the AC Hotel, where we have another hotel block.

    • The first shuttle will begin boarding around 2:45, and the last shuttle will leave the Chase around 3:20.

    • After the ceremony, the shuttles will bring you from the Jewel Box to the cocktail hour at the Leona.

    • From the reception, the shuttles will take you back to the Chase Park Plaza.

  • Drive:

    • The Jewel Box doesn't have its own parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking along the park roads. Disabled guests can be dropped off using the service road which goes up directly to the entrance.

    • The Leona has its own parking lot and there is also ample street parking in the neighborhood.

What should I wear?

For the welcome party at the City Museum:

  • If you plan to explore the museum before or during the welcome party, which we highly suggest, you should wear comfortable, closed toed shoes and pants that are somewhat durable and comfortable. Fully experiencing the City Museum involves crawling, climbing, sliding, and squeezing through small spaces.

  • Given that, there's no real dress code for the welcome party but if you'd like to change into dressier attire, there are restrooms in the Vault Room just for use of our guests. There are also paid lockers on the first floor of the museum.

For the wedding:

  • Cocktail attire, but don't be afraid to be festive about it!

Where should I stay?

We have a couple of hotel blocks with discounted rates in the Central West End:

As mentioned above, the shuttle for the wedding ceremony and reception will depart from and return to the marquee in front of the Chase Park Plaza. The two hotels are on the same block.

Other suggestions for hotels include:

  • Cheshire Inn - A "British themed" hotel, but one feels that it could only exist in St. Louis. If you are willing to cross a large, pedestrian unfriendly street, you will find yourself in the lovely Kennedy Forest which is one of the best places in Forest Park for walks.

  • Drury Inn - Conveniently located near Forest Park and the Hill, where you can sample St. Louis' unique style of Italian food.

Airbnbs are also a good choice in St. Louis.

Our events are pretty spread out, so there isn't really a most convenient neighborhood. Some walkable and pleasant neighborhoods that are not too far from the events would include:

  • Central West End

  • Areas around Tower Grove Park - Tower Grove South, South Grand, Shaw, or Botanical Heights

  • Areas closer to downtown - Fox Park, Benton Park, Soulard, Lafayette Square

I have another question :D
